These cheesy baked sliders are a modern twist on the classic Midwestern “Hanky Panky” appetizer — loaded with ground beef, sausage, melted cheese, and buttery Hawaiian rolls.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb pork sausage (mild or hot)
- 1 lb Velveeta cheese, cubed
- 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls (12-count)
- ½ cup salted butter
- 2 tbsp finely minced onion
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- Optional: poppy seeds or chopped parsley
Instructions
- Cook the meat
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease. - Add the cheese
Lower heat to medium-low. Stir in cubed Velveeta until melted and creamy. - Prepare the rolls
Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating them. Place the bottom half into a greased baking dish. - Add filling
Spread the cheesy meat mixture evenly over the rolls. Place the top half of the rolls back on. - Make butter topping
Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in onion, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. - Pour and chill
Pour the butter mixture over the sliders. Optional: sprinkle poppy seeds on top.
Refrigerate for 1 hour if you want extra flavor and softer rolls. - Bake
Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and bake another 5 minutes until golden. - Serve
Let rest 5–10 minutes, then separate into sliders and serve warm.
